Volunteers

Circle “C” Ranch could not run without the dedication and help of its volunteers! The Ranch is always looking for more volunteers - both Girl Scouts and grown-up Girl Scouts! Currently our biggest need is for adult volunteers! Our most popular volunteer program is our Wrangler-in-Training (WIT) program for girls 13 and older.

Wrangler-In-Training Program

Are you 13 or older and want to work with horses? Come join our Wrangler in Training (WIT) program. As a WIT you will learn how to teach girls to groom, lead, ride, and care for horses. In return for your help at the barn you will have the opportunity to ride, broaden your knowledge of horses, and meet friends that share a love for horses.

Being a WIT can be hard work. WITs generally help with weekend riding programs. Some of their tasks include: feeding, cleaning stalls, grooming horses, tacking, leading horses on trail rides, assist in teaching ground and mounted lessons. As a WIT you must commit to working 2 days a month at Circle “C” Ranch. If you think you have what it takes, then sign up for a WIT Training Session. You must attend one of the scheduled training sessions to become a WIT.

Training Dates:
To Be Announced

Please contact Melissa "Chaco" Hoose, Equine Program Manager, at mhoose@girlscoutsp2p.org or (336) 861-8137 if you are interested in becoming a WIT.

Wrangler-in-Training Camp
Beginner and Intermediate Level
Session 7, August 1-6 2010

During W.I.T. Camp you will be equipped with the skills necessary to be a year-round volunteer at Circle C Ranch. Spend your time getting to know the horses, participating in riding lessons and going on trail rides. Also learn how to teach others about horses and riding. Then put your new knowledge and skills to work by creating ground lessons to share with other horse campers! You will spend half your day at the barn and the other half doing the rest of the fun activities at camp!
Fee: $355

Registration for summer camp programs will begin on February 1, 2010. Check back here for more information!
