
Circle C Troop Programs
The barn is open for troop riding programs during the school year on most Saturdays by appointment only. Reservations are available three months in advance. You can come to the barn as a day trip or combine your visit with a weekend camping trip to Keyauwee Program Center.
Whether your troop just wants to have fun riding horses or work on specific skills, we have a program that is just right for you! Please note that reservations can be made up to three months in advance and participants must be at least five years old to ride. At this time we are only able to accommodate youth riders.

Girl Scout Daisies, Brownies (Grades 1-3)
Pony Pals
Fee: $25 per girl
Participants: Minimum: 6/ Maximum: 16
Length of Program: 2 hours
This program is perfect for first time riders! Riders will learn to be safe around horses with the riding lesson covering the basic building blocks of riding. Riders will have maximum assistance during their riding time. This program will help your troop complete the requirements for the GS of Middle Tennessee Riding Round up badge.
Pony Trails
Fee: $25 per girl
Participants: Minimum: 6/ Maximum: 16
Length of Program: 2 hours
Ready to leave the arena for an adventure? Riders will learn how to be safe while riding the trails, review basic riding skills in the arena and then take a short trail ride. Riders will have maximum assistance during their riding time. If the weather has made the trails unsafe to ride, this program will stay in the indoor arena, learn about and practice riding through a trail obstacle course. Safety of the trails will be determined by the Riding Instructor, we cannot reschedule your riding time. This program will help your troop complete the requirements for the GS of Southern Alabama, Bit ‘N Bridle badge.
Barn Rat University – Grooming
Fee: $15 per girl or adult
Participants: Minimum: 6/ Maximum: 16
Times: 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m. or 3:30 p.m.
This 1 hour program includes learning to safely and properly groom a horse.
Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee has kindly offered to share their Council’s Own Horse badges with other GS Councils. They have three Brownie Try Its: Lovin’ & Groomin’, Pony Ready and Riding Round-Up. Any of our programs can be altered to accommodate badge requirements. Your troop will need to order badges directly from Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee.
Girl Scout Juniors (Grades 4-5)
Junior Equestrian
Fee: $25 per girl for 2 hours / $35 per girls for 3 hours
Participants: Minimum: 6/Maximum: 16
Length of Program: 2 hours or 3 hours
A great riding experience for first time or infrequent riders. This program will help your troop complete the requirements for the GSUSA Junior Horseback Riding badge.
Junior Trails
Fee: $25 per girl for 2 hours / $35 per girls for 3 hours
Participants: Minimum: 6/ Maximum: 16
Length of Program: 2 hours or 3 hours
Feeling confident? Let’s get out of the arena and take a trail ride! If the weather has made the trails unsafe to ride, this program will stay in the indoor arena, learn about and practice riding through a trail obstacle course. Safety of the trails will be determined by the Riding Instructor, we cannot reschedule your riding time. This program will help your troop complete the requirements for the GSUSA Junior Horseback Riding Badge.
Barn Rat University – Horse Parts
Fee: $15 per girl or adult

Length of Program: 2 hours
Learn to identify the parts of a horse and describe a horse’s markings, colors and height.
Barn Rat University – Tack
Fee: $15 per girl or adult
Participants: Minimum: 6/ Maximum: 16
Length of Program: 2 hours
Learn to identify the parts of a bridle and saddle and how to safely tack and untack a horse.
Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee has kindly offered to share their Council’s Own Horse badges with other GS Councils. They have two Junior badges: Hands on Horses and Horse Sampler. Any of our programs can be altered to accommodate badge requirements. Your troop will need to order badges directly from Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee.
Girl Scout Cadettes (Grades 6-8)
Equine Experience
Fee: $25 per girl for 2 hours / $35 per girls for 3 hours
Participants: Minimum: 6/ Maximum: 16
Length of Program: 2 hours or 3 hours
Learn or review the basic riding skills and then play some games on horseback. This program will help your troop complete the requirements for the GS of Middle TN Discovery: Horses-Cadette.
Horseback Archery
Fee: $35 per girl
Participants: Minimum: 6/ Maximum: 12
Length of Program: 3 hours
Calling all Amazons! Get comfortable on the ground learning the safe handling and technique of the bow and arrow, then try it out on a moving horse. (GSCP2P Horseback Archery Badge, coming soon)

(This is a 2-hour non-riding program) Equine Facilitated Learning is a dynamic way of learning about yourself and others. Let the natural behavior of horses help your group explore topics like leadership, group dynamics and team building. This program will help your troop complete the requirements for the GS Middle TN Horse Smart Leadership.

All Ages
UN-MOUNTED HORSE ACTIVITY
Fee: $5 per girl
Spend an hour at the barn learning about the Circle C horses. An Equine Program Specialist will work with you to tailor your experience to fit your troop’s age and interests in order to develop a program that could serve as an enrichment activity that coincides with a Journey or a badge that your troop is working toward. Or, just have an unique and memorable un-mounted horse experience at the barn!
