Planning your trip to Keyauwee

Keyauwee offers a variety of activities for your troop camping weekend.

Once you have made a reservation and have been confirmed for a camping weekend you can start booking activities.
 

Activities at Keyauwee:
Archery
Boating (kayaks, canoes and paddleboats)
Challenge course
Climbing wall
Earthball and Parachute
Fishing
Geocaching
Hikes
 

Horseback Riding
Mini Golf
Nature Center
Night Hike
Orienteering
Sports Court
Swimming (The month of May)
 

Our Assistant Director, Andi York will help you organize facilitators for the weekend. Once you have a reservation you should contact Andi at keyauwee2@northstate.net and let her know if you need facilitators and the times you’d like to request for any non-staffed program areas.

We will provide facilitators for these activities:
• Archery
• Boating (kayaks, canoes and paddleboats)
• Challenge course
• Climbing wall
• Swimming (The month of May)
$20/facilitator/session: wall, boats, swimming, archery, challenge course
$30/facilitator/session:
Alpine Tower (when it is up and running)

Example: Troop of 12 girls would like to participate in the wall and challenge course. Wall will need 4 facilitators and the challenge course will need one facilitator.
$20x5 facilitators=$100 cost to the troop
*We are adding 2 new program areas to Keyauwee! This spring we will be putting up an Alpine Tower and a Team Development Course. We are currently in the planning process and hope to break ground in February. Staff should be trained this spring and program areas will be running for summer camp programs and troops can book these activities for Fall camping. We are sorry for any inconveniences but hope that you are excited for these new activities at Keyauwee!

Resources for Activities at Keyauwee
These activities are free and available for troops. If you would like to participate in one of these activities please let Andi know so she can schedule a time for you.

Earthball and Parachute:
Located on the porch of the Nature Center. Play with a giant rubber ball in the field by the Bunkhouse or play fun group games with the parachutes! Earthball and Parachute Activities

Fishing:
Keyauwee has bamboo poles available for fishing located at the lower dining hall. Troops must bring bait.

Geocaching
This information is for you to use to teach your troop how to geocache. When you check out GPS units to use for geocaching at Keyauwee, we will provide you with this same presentation in a binder, so you do not have to print it off before you come to camp.

Mini Golf:
Located at the Dakota Shelter. Build your own mini golf holes and then play a game!

Nature Center and Hikes
The Nature Center is full of resources to help you plan a program and complete badges for your troop. These worksheets will help you organize some activities:

Night Hike:
Ranger Paul’s night hike is a wonderful opportunity to catch the nightlife at Keyauwee! If your troop is interested in doing a night hike while at camp contact Ranger Paul: Rangerpaulhoff@aol.com

Resources coming soon!

Trading Post:
The Trading Post will be open for your camping weekend! When you arrive we will let you know what time it will be open during your stay. We have items ranging from $0.25 - $25.00 such as pens, bandanas, stickers, t-shirts, stuffed animals, blankets and more!

Sports Court:
Located by the challenge course. A basketball court, sand volleyball, tetherball, hula-hoops, and other sporting equipment are available.
